Better Together

If I were to ask you "who do you feel like your best self around?" Who is the first person that comes to mind... Hold that thought.

The beauty of sharing special moments with the people most important to you... There’s nothing quite like it.

Do you have that special someone you go to in times of need? Or that one person you know will share your victories with you unlike anyone else? The ones you lean on in your worst of times, who you can guarantee will lift you up, and the ones you go to in your best moments, knowing they’ll make it better.

I never knew the true value behind that whole “quality over quantity” saying until my late years of college. I don’t even think I fully grasped it until very recently.

I’ve always been a “the bigger the better” type of person. One who enjoys extravagant gestures and big events, laughing loud, no awkward silence, and so on. I was and still am a very bubbly person, I’ll talk to anyone and most likely want to hear your life story and share mine. Getting deep is fun for me and there’s no such thing as “too much”. With maturity and time though, you realize the necessary balance and the joy in keeping things close to you.

It’s not necessarily that you need a balance though, I think the maturity just allows us to realize who shows up and who genuinely brings out the good as well as value to your life. Who is actually on the sidelines at every game, not just the ones you win, & they don’t have a friend or relative on the opposing team.

I truly believe in being a friend to everyone you meet and am so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. Ones that I really can go to, ones who love me, and ones who I love with no terms or conditions. I’m a lucky girl and there’s no doubt about it.

Let’s go back to the special moments though.

The most beautiful thing in the world to me is people coming together to share a common interest.

Let’s use a football game for example, or any sports team for that matter. I bet if you’ve been to any sports game in your life you’ve made friends with the people wearing the same colors as you. Or at least exchanged a high five. And if it weren’t for the morale and the whole stadium cheering together when the ball reaches the end zone or you hear the swish of the basket, it wouldn’t bring much enjoyment at all.

So let me paint a picture for you.

It’s November 3rd 2022, you are with your best friend. The one who has never left your side during the worst of times, who cheers on your victories in the best of times, your biggest cheerleader, the one you have the most fun with, and the one who brought you closer to Jesus. You spend the night at an amphitheater, its a nice venue but nothing glorious. The two of you along with, if I were to guess I’d say maybe 3,000 or more people, come together thanks to an amazing performer and celebrate your love for God through music. When I tell you its breathtaking it’s no exaggeration.

Hands are in the air, smiles fill the venue, good vibes all around. There’s laughter, tears, and pure genuine beauty.

That common interest is our life on earth thanks to God. That common interest is being happy and healthy. That common interest is being with those we love and being grateful for whatever our circumstances are because there’s always SOME good in it. There’s something so powerful about it. I’ve felt it before but I feel it so strongly when in these settings and I can’t help but admire it.

I’m no pro at this whole “life” thing. But I do know that together is the best place to be. And often times we withhold parts of ourselves until we feel that we are able to “open up” based on other parties energy. That’s why who we surround ourselves with is so important. That’s why who we share our victories with is so important. If you want to be closer to God, hangout with people who are close to God. If you want to be more driven, surround yourself with people who have similar goals.

If you want to experience life’s greatest moments with special people in your life, find out who those special people are and hold on to them real tight, some people aren’t as lucky as you or I but I’m counting my blessings... Who did you think of the whole time you were reading this?
